Professor Benjamin Ugochukwu Ekenyem has served as the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine for two terms at the Imo State University, Owerri. He has been a dedicated member of the staff at Imo State University, Owerri since 1996. Prof. Ekenyem holds the title of Professor of Animal Production and obtained his M.Sc. from ESUT and PGD from ASUTECH. He also holds memberships in professional organizations such as MNSAP, MASAN, and MNIAS.

Having an impressive academic background, Professor Ekenyem has made significant contributions, which encompass the release of over 70 papers in respected academic journals, conference records, and noteworthy books. He takes an active role in multiple university engagements, such as being part of the undergraduate accreditation board, leading resource verification squads for numerous Nigerian universities, and engaging in diverse committees and boards within the university. The National Universities Commission also recognized his expertise and entrusted him with special tasks.

In the realm of academic evaluation, Prof. Ugochukwu has fulfilled the role of External Examiner for both undergraduate and postgraduate students across multiple universities. He has conducted assessments for the promotion of candidates to the positions of professor and associate professor. Prof. Ekenyem has also been an effective mentor, successfully guiding over ten Ph.D. students to completion, as well as numerous M.Sc. and PGD candidates.
